What is Home Staging?

What does a home stager do?

A home stager turns your house into a home that buyers can see themselves living in. A potential buyer won't have to imagine what the home would look like fully furnished because the stager has eliminated the guesswork and done it for them.

A home stager will:

- provide objective input about what areas of your home are in need of improvement

- remove clutter, rearrange furniture, and accessorize your home in a way that is appealing to the largest possible audience

- remove potentially polarizing decór including family photos and religious imagery

- or, fill a completely empty house with furniture, appliances, and accessories

How much does home staging cost?

As a general guideline, a full home stage will cost about 1-2% of the list price. Homes on the market for over a million dollars will cost more to stage as they require extra special attention to attract buyers.

Why should I stage my home?

Homes that are professionally staged tend to be on the market for less time and to sell for higher prices. Home stagers stress that their services should be looked at as an investment rather than a cost. If you choose to sell the house as-is and it doesn’t sell, you’ll likely have to consider a price reduction. An initial investment in staging may prevent this later inconvenience all together.

What if I can't afford home staging?

If a full home stage does not fit in your budget, you may consider scheduling a consultation with a home stager. For a reasonable price, a home stager will walk through your home with you and suggest changes that you could make yourself to accentuate the home’s best qualities. This may also work for people with a lot of DIY experience.
